Though we have fallen behind in our blogging, we are now making more time and effort to keep you all informed with what’s going on in the animal world! We hope you continue to follow and spread the word as we will be blogging about important topics, articles, funny stories, up coming events, and much much more!
With Valentine’s day approaching tomorrow, we hope your pets are getting lots of love and affection and not sneaking too much chocolate.
As most of you know, chocolate is very toxic for animals (though very yummy for humans). According to the ASPCA, chocolate toxicity is one of the most common poisonings seen by vets. It contains an alkaloid called “Theobromine”, which is in the same family as caffeine. Theobromine stimulates the central nervous system and cardiovascular system which causes increased blood pressure, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, excessive thirst and urination, tremors, seizures, and even death. So while your celebrating Valentines day with your significant other, make sure your little pet pals aren’t getting into anything they’re not suppose to!
However, they can still have a yummy treat to celebrate this fun day. Try giving them a few extra chewies, a bone, or a fun new toy. Some may even suggest a play date or a spa day full of baths and grooming! Most importantly though, show them L.O.V.E on this very special day (and every day as well)! Remember, animals have feeling too and need to be appreciated just like us humans!
Hope you and your pets have a fun and SAFE Valentines Day!
